KBS Tour S+ Wins at Champions Tour National Qualifying Tournament

BOULDER, Colo. (November 25, 2013) – KBS secured its latest professional victory at the 2013 Champions Tour National Qualifying Tournament at TPC Scottsdale last week. The champion trusted the KBS TOUR S+ in his irons.

The winning player is the newest member of the Champions Tour and tied an all-time record for a four-round qualifier. He has been playing theKBS TOUR S+ since September 2012.

This is the sixth Champions Tour win for KBS in 2013, adding to its already record-breaking season. KBS has now secured a total of 27 professional wins worldwide.  What other players use the KBS TOUR S+? We don’t know, but a lot.

“We’re excited to be a part of this player’s first win on the Champions Tour,” said Kim Braly, director of R&D and tour operations at KBS. “This is a great, record-setting victory and KBS TOUR S+ is thrilled to be in this player’s bag.”

Here’s what the Golf Channel has to say about KBS Tour (not specifically the KBS Tour S+)

“Introduced in 2008, KBS Tour quickly established a presence on the professional tours. According to company officials, its steel shafts have recorded more than 50 wins in that time and are now used by more than 110 players on those circuits. At the same time, KBS has made inroads in recreational golf, based largely on the strength of its three primary products ‘ KBS Tour, KBS Tour 90 and KBS C-Taper.

Those shafts are the brainchild of noted designer Kim Braly. A golf industry veteran of more than 30 years, he has created a number of popular products in his career, among them Rifle and Project X shafts for Royal Precision. And his mandate in this case was to develop a premium, high-performance line of steel shafts for the FST shaft company. First put into play four years ago, they carried the brand name KBS (Kim Braly Signature) Tour.

For irons, the KBS Tour series consists of three targeted performance options. The C-Taper is designed to produce low trajectory and spin, while the KBS Tour is designed to produce low-mid trajectory and a low-mid amount of spin. As for the Tour 90, it is geared for those golfers wanting mid-high trajectory and generous spin.”

KBS Tour Shaft Wins Australian PGA

KBS Wins 2013 Australian PGA Championship

The winner of the 2013 Australian PGA Championship captured his eighth victory while playing with KBS shafts last weekend. This achievement is KBS shafts’; 25th professional worldwide victory of 2013 and cements this year as the company’s most successful season to date.

The Australian PGA Championship winner, who has been playing with the KBS TOUR since 2009, is also this year’s US Masters champion. He also won the Australian Open in 2009 and the Australian Masters in 2012 while using KBS TOUR shafts.

This home-town win was secured in a dominating fashion and is the first Australian PGA Championship for the player. He is now in the select club of career triple crown winners after claiming all three Australian majors. Here’s some news from the Australian PGA Championship:

It wasn’t quite the knee-bending, fist-pumping image from the 18th green at Augusta National earlier this year that reduced many Australians to tears. But Queenslander Adam Scott was touched by the strong show of support from fans and fellow golfers to the PGA’s “Wear Green For Adam Scott Day” at RACV Royal Pines on Friday for the second round of the Australian PGA Championship which proved a great success.

Fans, young and old, turned up for the occasion decked out in bright green hats, shirts, pants and shoes, many had their faces and arms painted. One of Scott’s playing partners (Richard Green) was simply green by name but tweeted after his round that he’d worn green “jocks” for the special occasion.

After shooting a modest 67, Scott obliged excited fans lined up for 100 metres, signing autographs for them on shirts and hats and even a pin flag from Augusta that made one man extremely happy. “It was nice to see everyone out there, so many people in green today,” said Scott afterwards. “It was nice the PGA wanted to make today a green day and that everyone embraced it, even the players, which was really special to me to think my peers would do that. “It was so nice to see that they enjoyed seeing an Aussie win the Masters.”

The massive green gallery lining the fairways was roaring early. Scott gave them hope of a special round on his special day after rolling in an early birdie and nailing an eagle three at the 570m par five third hole to jump into the outright lead. The low round everyone had been wishing, however it failed to eventuate. Scott could only extract one birdie from his next 15 holes. He admitted to thinking after his quick birdie-eagle start he could shoot low. “The course was there for the taking at that point,” said the 33 year-old.

“But we were playing some pretty tough holes in between the ones I feel I can take advantage of and with the greens this firm you can make mistakes. “I kind of tempered myself a little bit and kind of thought I shouldn’t push it too much and put myself behind the eight ball.” At the end of a surprisingly lackluster day’s scoring as the wind picked up throughout the afternoon, Scott was still on top of the leaderboard on -10 – two shots ahead of Victorian battler David McKenzie (-8) and Fowler (-7) who fired a disappointing 72 after such a promising start.

Later finishers Gareth Paddison (-7) from New Zealand and NSW professional Nathan Green (-7) both put themselves in contention finishing three shots behind Scott. Fowler said he would stay patient on Saturday and try and post a solid round to keep him in contention for Sunday.

“I can see him (Scott) making too many mistakes so I will have to make a few more birdies than him over the weekend,” said the American. “A solid round tomorrow (Saturday) will be the key to being in a good position to win.”
